There are many ways to show your support for education in Central Asia. Every action you take makes a difference.
Education is the antidote to ignorance, poverty, and war, and you can be part of the cure.
In 2021, Preschool #2 was in shambles. Mold grew in the cracks of the building’s crumbling plaster. The rooms were drafty and cold. Smoke from the coal stove fouled the air. Teachers feared the ceiling might collapse at any moment — a terrifying thought in a mountainous region prone to earthquakes.
With your help, CAI has almost completed construction on a new Preschool #2 in the remote, mountain village of Barushan in Tajikistan, giving close to 130 impoverished children the chance to learn in a safe, warm, secure environment. Preschool #2 will officially open its doors in 2024!
For a community that has relied on a dangerously neglected building as its sole preschool for over 60 years, this new school serves as a symbol of Barushan’s perseverance and dedication to education and early childhood care. As a model school for the region and a built-to-last design, the impact of Preschool #2 will spread far beyond the 125 children that will enter its doors next year.
Thank you for all that you have done to support the children and families of Tajikistan’s Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Oblast (GBAO) region. YOU have given these children the gift of a brighter future and they are excited to begin learning.
If you have not yet had the chance to invest in Preschool #2 or would like to make another contribution, there is still time! Any additional funds raised now will be used to complete the remaining construction work including finishings, heating, electrical work, and playground structure installation.
With so much space, enrollment can increase by at least 15%!
