Privacy Statement

Central Asia Institute (CAI) respects and values privacy. The following constitutes CAI’s Privacy Policy for the collection, protection, and use of the personal and private information we receive from donors and supporters that is collected via special events, websites (including email), mail, and phone.

Personal Information
CAI collects personal information through its interactions with the public.  “Personal Information” is information that identifies you personally, such as your name, address, telephone number, and email address. We collect and store the personal information that you have provided us via one of the email addresses identified on our website or when you otherwise contact us in person, by phone or email, with a question.  We also collect your name, email address and other contact information if you register for an event, as well as collecting your name, email address, mailing address, telephone number, and payment information when you make a contribution, either on our website, at a special event, over the phone or by mailing in a check.  The above list provides a sample of personal information that may be collected by CAI.  From time to time, we may collect personal information from you in ways not described above, including from those who subscribe to our newsletter or blog, and request information about the organization. CAI will NOT sell, rent, or trade this information to a third party for fundraising or marketing purposes, nor will CAI send donor mailings on behalf of other organizations. CAI will only share or sell personal information once the donor has given the charity specific permission to do so.

Speaking Requests
Information about a speaking event and the event host may be collected and posted online. If a request is denied, the information will be kept confidential. Speaking requests require interested parties to provide CAI with a name, street address, phone number, email address and website. If a request is accepted and an event planned, this information may be published online and announcements may be made through mailings or other advertisements about the event to CAI’s supporters. CAI’s speaking request form requires acknowledgement of the published information at the time of the request. Central Asia Institute will NOT sell, rent, or trade this information.

Donations made to CAI are safe and secure. CAI uses industry-standard SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) encryption to protect the confidentiality of personal information and the security of all transactions made through the websites.

We use your mailing or email address to communicate directly with you, as well as to send your tax-deductible receipts for all donations, unless other instructions are provided. Donors and supporters may choose to opt out of receiving CAI communications at any time.

Third Party Links
While CAI may provide links to third-party websites, it is not responsible for the content or information-collection practices of those sites. CAI cannot control the privacy and data-collection practices of such sites and the privacy policies of other sites may differ from that of CAI. Therefore, visitors who follow these links should review and understand the privacy policies of other sites before providing any information while online.

CAI does not intend – and this website is NOT designed – to collect personal information from children under age 18. Anyone under 18 years of age should not provide personal information or use this site without the supervision or authorization of an adult.

Please note that children under the age of 18 may not make donations on this website without parental consent.

Purchased Lists
We may occasionally rent or purchase personal information including names, addresses, and email addresses from a third party organization/company. Central Asia Institute does not store this personal information unless the person makes a donation to or requests newsletter subscriptions from CAI.

Website Advertisements
CAI places advertisements with third parties. CAI is able to obtain personally identifiable information (PII) from your voluntary registration through advertising links. The voluntary information you provide is transmitted directly to CAI and treated exactly as if it were data collected from our own sites/platforms.

Privacy Policy is Subject to Change
CAI is committed to protecting privacy and PII of those who make contact with CAI through mail, phone, and this website. The laws, regulations and policies surrounding Internet commerce are constantly changing. In order to adapt to changing circumstances, CAI reserves the right to change and update this policy.
