Last spring CAI supporters met Hareem, a young woman with a dream of being a pharmacist and a strong determination to achieve that dream despite poverty, family tragedy, and difficulty accessing education. Hareem was a featured scholarship student during the 2016 summer campaign. There is a quiet revolution taking place in in the mountains, along the streams, in the cities, and the small villages throughout Central Asia. This revolution has nothing to do with warlords or violent clashes. It has everything to do with books, and pencils, and empowering women. This movement is an unstoppable revolution for girls' education. All through the region, girls and women are determined to go to school. Education gives them a future; it’s the key to becoming unstoppable.
“When we went through this transition of traditional to commercial farming we wanted to make life better, but it didn’t work out that way,” says Asif.
Encouragement is key to keeping these kids in school. They face lots of obstacles.
